In Too Deep by Kristina Mathews

Miranda is a writer for an outdoor magazine for women. She spent time with one of the owners of a river rafting company one weekend and now she finds out that she’s pregnant. She is determined to go to the company and to tell Carson that the baby is his. When she gets to the river rafting office, she meets Cody, his twin brother. The problem is that Carson will be gone for two weeks since he is on his honeymoon! But, you’ll just have to read the book to find out exactly what happens.  This story is very enjoyable reading and I found  Miranda’s dilemma to be an interesting twist. In Too Deep is a well written contemporary romance. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

One Snowy Night by Jill Shalvis

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory is trying to get back to her hometown and family after years of being absent during the holidays. She gets an offer for a ride and decides to take it despite her better judgement. The ride happens to be from her former flame, Max. They set out for a snow-filled and sexy ride from the city to Lake Tahoe! This Christmas novella was fun, flirty and filled with obvious twists and turns. I did enjoy it and would recommend this delightful novella for those who enjoy contemporary romance.

Victoria by Daisy Goodwin

A delightful novel written about Queen Victoria from her 18th birthday and coronation to her decision to marry Prince Albert. I really enjoyed this book, wish that it could have gone on into more of her married life but it still was a satisfying story filled with a solid story line and interesting characters. The author, Daisy Goodwin, is a very talented writer who has really delved into the history surrounding Victoria and Albert. Ms. Goodwin is also the creator and writer of the new PBS/Masterpiece drama Victoria. I would highly recommend this book for lovers of historical fiction and historical romance.

Love Literary Style by Karin Gillespie

Aaron is a stereotypical adjunct professor in Atlanta, Georgia. He is teaching composition, believes that cliches are the enemies of good writing and he hates improper word usage! He is so perfect for this job, but his real love is in writing his own novels. His genre is literary fiction which he views to be superior of any other. He has been called a literary snob and is quite proud of that moniker. Aaron is at a writing colony for a session and his next door neighbor is a beautiful blonde who sings and laughs out loud; she also is a romance writer! The beautiful blond is Laurie and she notices the shaggy, unkempt guy next door. She would love to have a colony “fling”, the only question is how she’s going to arrange it! This is just a small taste of the story but I would love for readers to sit back with a cup of their favorite adult beverage and savor every word! This is truly one of the best books I’ve read this year! It’s got it all! A beautifully-written contemporary romance that has amazing depth of characters and an engaging story that had me reading long into the night. I would highly recommend it and give it the highest number of stars! As a retired librarian and teacher, I love to read about authors with the wonderful talent that I only dream about! This book does it all, and more!

The Semi-Sweet Hereafter by Colette London

Hayden Mundy Moore is a person who helps out posh candy story owners as an expert in anything that is sweet and chocolate. She is currently in London working for a swanky chocolaterie-pâtisserie, Primrose. The owner, Phoebe, is a real snob that Hayden has to deal with. Hayden is staying on the property of the owner in a smaller residence that doubles as the working kitchen for the owner’s husband, Jeremy, a famous chef. Hayden leaves work and walks into the house that she is staying in and finds a dead body. It turns out to be the murder scene of Chef Jeremy. The police are treating Hayden as a possible suspect and she realizes that she will have to find the killer before he or she gets away and she possibly won’t. I love cozy mysteries and I love any British mystery. I really enjoyed this book and found it to be entertaining. I really liked the character of Hayden and found her to be easy to relate to. I definitely recommend this book to all cozy and mystery lovers.

Wildflower Harvest by Colleen L. Reece

A great historical romance! In post Civil War West Virginia, twins Mountain Laurel and Ivy Ann have just had a birthday and are thinking about what they would like to do in the future. Ivy Ann is perfectly happy with marrying and living in West Virginia but her identical twin, Mountain Laurel is dreaming of moving into the untamed Western portion of the country. Dr. Adam Birchfield is a young doctor who has left Massachusetts to find her estranged brother in the Wyoming Territory. He stops in West Virginia along the way and meets the beautiful twin sisters. Ivy Ann is loud and somewhat of a diva, but she always manages to get any suitor that she wants, including her sister’s choices. Adam is drawn to the quiet Mountain Laurel whom he finds to be great at conversation as she tells him about her dreams. Adam leaves to go to the Wyoming Territory and Laurel wishes that she could go after him. The rest of the story is beautifully written and was so sweet and endearing. I love historical romance and this story is a satisfying one. This book also has a bonus story entitled Desert Rose. I would recommend this book to all lovers of romance.

By Firelight by Janice Maynard

Grant Monroe is alone in his cabin just as a huge winter storm begins. He hears something outside and then a knock on his door. When the door opens, a half-frozen woman, Maddy, tumbles in. Grant helps Maddy warm up and because of the storm, she is allowed to stay. Grant and Maddy begin a relationship that goes on beyond the storm. The story was okay but I felt like it was not really a solid story line. It was just a story of two people meeting and having sex. I guess if that’s all you want, it’s fine but I really expected something more interesting. There is a second story, Hot Arctic Nights. I really enjoyed this story much more than the first. The story was realistic and sweet, though predictable! It was a fast read with engaging characters. I would recommend this story to all contemporary romance lovers.

Jennifer decides to go with the girls to Switzerland to ski and have fun. The girls settle into a holiday of fun times, men and drinking. This really isn’t Jenn’s style but she has crazy times with her suitcases being missing and meeting a handsome ski instructor. This book has a sweet story filled with hilarious situations. Candy Cane Christmas by Laura Trentham

This sweet little Christmas novella is based on Laura Trentham’s Cottonbloom book series. It was a great story, written in the wonderful style that author Laura Trentham is so loved for. I loved the Cottonbloom books and thought that this short story was the perfect topping to a holiday season. Kayla Redmond and Jeremy Whitehurst cross paths when Kayla goes to work at Fournette Designs. There is an instant attraction and the reader is treated to an endearing love story. I recommend this book and author to all romance lovers!
