The Secret Ingredient by Nancy Naigle

Kelly McIntyre and Andrew York were once an item and planning a life together as well as opening a restaurant together. But, that was years ago and Kelly is a successful baker who is content with her bakery and her life. She is invited to enter a Valentine’s Day bake contest and Andrew comes back into town. The two end up competing against each other and old feelings come tumbling in to further complicate the situation. This book is published by Hallmark Publishing and is a sweet, engaging story that I have come to expect, love and admire about the Hallmark trademark. Great addition to contemporary romance!

The Alamo Bride by Kathleen Y’Barbo

Claiborne Gentry walked the streets of New Orleans, La. in 1836 with much on his mind. Mr. Gentry was a man of prominence whose grandfather was the notorious pirate, Jean Lafitte and his uncle, William C.C. Claiborne, the first man to serve as governor of Louisiana. Gov. Claiborne first came to Louisiana to facilitate the transfer of land according to the Louisiana Purchase. Mr. Gentry was also friends with many prominent political figures of the time, including Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson. Claiborne Gentry helped raise money for the benefit of the Texians ( residents of Mexican Texas) who were trying to gain independence from Mexico. He was in New Orleans, in route to deliver the funds in Texas when he was robbed and assaulted. The beautiful, Ellis Dumont finds Mr. Gentry and attempts to nurse him back to health. She then is faced with the important decision between the future of the Texas Republic and her own feelings. I appreciate and relish an author who delves into historical stories and can produce their own story that has a basis on facts with fictional embellishments. I have long appreciated Kathleen Y’Barbo as an author who writes rich historical fiction. I believe that those who are lovers of history and a good Christian story will really enjoy this book.

The Alamo Bride by Kathleen Y’Barbo will be published February 1, 2019 from Barbour Publishing. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

Ice Hot by Tracy Goodwin

If you love hockey, strong characters and romance, you’ll love this book. Christian is a hockey super-star who has never given much thought to ever being in love. It’s all about his new team and the players and of course, himself. Serena is a girl whose family has never had a problem with money, in fact, they even sold the land for the hockey stadium. Christian bumps into Serena and sparks fly as the two get to know each other. This story has lots of info about hockey, their players and their relationships. Solid characters and strong language are also part of this book. A little slow-moving for me but still a good read.

She is in foster care with his childhood friend, Tara Alzate, a RN who specializes in infant care. Rhett wants custody of his daughter but Tara wants to adopt her. There is much more to the story, but I don’t want to ruin it for you! Enjoyed this book, great characters and lots of romance make this a four star for me!

How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass

I bet that after reading this title you may be thinking that this book is just another racy story. Well, I thought the same thing but after reading the summary, decided that it may be worthwhile to read. I was happy to find that this book had a great story and I found it to be absolutely endearing! Like I said, the story was great but the characters were five star! The main character is a librarian who has been in love with her brother’s best friend since she was a kid. The best friend, Adam, is of course a gorgeous hunk who is ex-military and rides a motorcycle. Our main lady, Mel, talks Adam into helping her change her image from the wallflower librarian to a sexy lady. The author really does spin a sweet story that was enjoyable and fun. Four stars for this one but I still say the title does not do the book justice.

How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass is available from Entangled: Bliss, an imprint of Entangled Publishing, LLC. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

The Bookstore of the Broken Hearted by Robert Hillman

The story of Tom, an Australian sheep rancher and his sad, solitary life until meeting a Hungarian survivor of Auschwitz, Hannah. The story goes from present day 1967 back to World War II days. There are many story lines and plenty of interesting information about Hannah in the death camp. An interesting story that is a good addition to the historical fiction genre.

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant

Audrey Martinez is a one-of-a-kind large animal veterinarian. She is a very popular and well-known vet who is contracted by two large ranches as well as working for a horse rescue organization. She is called to a horse auction house to help out three horses who are sick and have possibly been poisoned. Ex-military man, Caleb Harper is brought into the case and the two work together to find out what is happening to the horses and why. I really enjoyed this book that included themes of family, romance, mystery and sizzling secrets. Great characters who are flawed but realistic made this story so believable and heart-warming. A great addition to contemporary romance.

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant will be available February 26, 2019 from St. Martin’s Paperbacks, and imprint of St. Martin’s Press. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

The DASH Diet Mediterranean Solution by Marla Heller

I love this update to the DASH diet. Originally a program to lower blood pressure, the DASH diet has always been a healthy approach to eating. Now this book couples it with the super-healthy Mediterranean way of eating. I enjoyed reading about the updates of more fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood and also browsing through the section of healthy menus for everyone. A welcome addition to the new year for a guide to healthy eating.

You get a fun, fast-paced story filled with castles, realistic characters and an entertaining story! I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!
