The Lieutenants’ Online Love by Caro Carson

Thane Carter has been in an anonymous online relationship for months with Ballerina Baby. Little does he know that the new Lieutenant assigned to his MP unit is none other than Baby! This realization brings about huge problems that stop any thoughts of a closer relationship between the two. This story made me think about a military version of the popular movie, You’re Got Mail! The author does give an insight into the life of an MP, officers and military dating rules. Nice story with a predictable ending.

The Lieutenants’ Online Love by Caro Carson is available from Harlequin, Special Edition. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

The Bartered Bride Romance Collection by Cathy Hake, and others

An endearing collection of short stories of Christian, Western historical fiction. There are three of the stories that have the same cast of characters centered around the fictional town of Lickwind, Wyoming. I loved these stories and I know that it will warm your heart while you are treated to sweet stories of love and family.

Under a Storm-Swept Sky by Beth Anne Miller

I love travelogues and I love romance, so I was thrilled that this book rolls both of these genres into one powerful story! I kept thinking that the author had to have hiked the rocky, steep Skye Trail on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Ms. Miller does an extraordinary job of vividly describing it so that the reader can feel the cold wind blowing and rocks sliding under their feet as they hike along on the craggy inclines.

Amelia is not an experienced hiker and is petrified to try hiking the Skye Trail. She and her friend were supposed to hike it together but she’s in Scotland alone, many miles away from her “flat” home in New York. The hike is led by two Scots, Rory and Tommy, who are very experienced and have their doubts about Amelia being able to finish the hike with the group. Amelia is determined, even though she is having a hard enough time without the constant rudeness and disdain she gets from Rory. Rory has a reason for his rude behavior! He sees Amelia as a spoiled American who has no interest in the beautiful terrain and is only interested in taking pictures to probably post on social media! So the two butt heads and of course, the story goes on!

I loved this beautiful and sensitively-written novel! It packed an emotional punch as I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning because I simply couldn’t put it down! Ah, young love at it’s finest! I haven’t read anything like this (lately) and just appreciated the author’s delicate handling of the story and her ability to present this sweet story without being “sappy”. It was believable and it felt so real that at the end, I was sure that I had been friends with the characters for a long time. The best that I’ve read this year.

The Family Gathering by Robyn Carr

I’ve just met the new guy in town! His name is Dakota, or Cody to family and other important people. Meeting him and the object of his affection, Sidney or Sid to friends, has been so much fun and so nice to watch as their relationship changes course. Oh, did I tell you that Cody (He lets me call him that!) has a big family in town and spends lots of time with them? It makes me so happy to spend time with all of them too; if you’d like to do the same, just take a flight to Denver, drive a little ways till you get to the Crossroads Campground. You can usually find Cody at the Bar and Grill with Sid. She’s usually working every day and would love to meet you too!

Reading a new Robyn Carr novel brings me to a new place where I meet new characters and love them all through the series. This one is the same as I really am enjoying her Sullivan’s Crossing series with this gem of a story. Highly recommended to any lover of contemporary romance!

Loved this sweet story! Have to give it points for a truly realistic plot that was so much fun and had me loving Kessed and Jasper like they were my best friends.
