Alesone MacNiven is on her way to see King Robert Bruce of Scotland. She comes across a Knight Templar, Sir Thomas MacKelloch. After she nearly puts an arrow into Sir Thomas, she gains his admiration as he is later sent as a bodyguard with Alesone to a safe castle, away from English soldiers. Sir Thomas and Alesone brave the cold and English knights to make their way to safety. An interesting story with a little romance and a great battle scene at the end. I really enjoyed this plot and recommend the book to lovers of historical romance in Scotland.
